Tom Abbott Abstract 3-Dimensional
Member since 2010
Tom has been showing his dimensional art work since the early 1990s throughout the United States. His original abstract sculptural paintings are in collections from California to New York and in Florida. Through exploration and experimentation, Tom developed a style that is uniquely his. Abstract 3-dimensional tactile pieces became his trademark. Geometrical shapes and the combination of different textures dominate his work. Textures range from ripped, rough, frayed-edge canvass to the smooth sensuous feel of poured paint. Having developed a method of pouring paint on glass then lifting the dry paint and applying it to a piece, Tom creates unique dripping and running effects.

Jack Fowler Oils, Oil Pastel and Encaustic
Treasurer and Member since 2008
Like most artistic children Jack always loved to draw, color, and paint. As a child he studied acrylic painting with New Zealand artist Gloria Berhow. He won his first art competition in the sixth grade, and continued to explore many mediums through out his school years, watercolors, pencil, pottery, & fiber. At 18 he was selected to be the studio assistant at Peter's Valley Craftsman's Village Fiber department. He graduated from Valencia Community College and then completed the Interior Design program at Southern College. He has been fortunate to study art and design in Paris, Venice, Toronto, Lake Como Italy, and most recently at the Atelier Capelletes (art school) in Benarraba Spain.
Jack enjoys painting scenes of places he has visited and most recently has been doing studies of the male nude. He is painting exclusively in oils now, but has worked with encaustic and photography. Jack has been in many juried shows, as well as local galleries.

Jarrod Pope Pencil and Digital Art
Secretary and Member since 2011
Jarrod, who goes by Guytoonist online, is an Orlando native and the youngest of nine children. For as long as he can recall, he has been interested in the sublime, and as he has gotten older, the erotic, despite his strict, Catholic background. Left to the whims of the village in lieu of able minded parenting, he, like many of his peers, has been saturated with pop culture and tries his best to implement it into his works. Of all of the art forms he has been exposed to, storytelling through illustration holds a very prominent place in his heart, having grown up with the works of Brian Froud, Boris Vallejo, Frank Frazetta and Tom of Finland.
Yes, he is looking for work.

Doug Powell Acrylics and Mixed Media Mosaics
Member since 2011
Born in Ashland Kentucky and raised in Basking Ridge New Jersey, Doug has been painting and drawing since he was old enough to hold a pencil. His passion for creating unusual works of art include using materials such as Remnant granite countertop material, jigsaw puzzle pieces and computer keys from computer keyboards. Since 2007, Doug’s iconic puzzle art portraits have dominated the canvas and have found their way into the world of Ripley’s “Believe It Or Not!” museums from Hollywood, California to Times Square, New York City. Doug’s creative horizon is now expanding into the world of Abstract Painting using a variety of acrylics as his medium of choice. Doug continues to explore and evolve in the emerging genre of new media. His art blends traditional and experimental techniques and mediums that result in visually stimulating mixed media paintings that are reminiscent of the Surrealist and Abstract Expressionist movements.

Harry Powell Acrylics and Digital Art
Vice-President and Member since 2011
Harry used to be a Space Shuttle Technician working for NASA, but is now, happily, a freelance artist living in Orlando Florida. He has been drawing and painting pictures since he was in the third grade. Harry says, “I was also lucky enough to have had two great art teachers: Mrs. Funfrock who taught me how to create a single color from many colors, and Mrs. Pittman who challenged me to work outside my comfort zone.” Because of their tutelage I have developed a taste for painting many different kinds of subject matters in various styles. When he’s not painting he’s usually hanging out with family and friends, traveling or researching his family’s genealogy. He also enjoys writing, reading books, watching movies and documentaries about: Art, History, Nature, Sciences, Science Fiction, Mythology and Fantasy.
